June 17 - Today in Beatles History
Performance at the Top Ten Club, Hamburg.
Studio Number 5, BBC Maida Vale Studios, London. 10.30am-1.00pm. Recording for BBC's 'Pop Go The Beatles': 'Pop Go The Beatles'; 'Anna (Go To Him)'; 'I Saw Her Standing There'; 'Boys'; 'Chains'; 'P.S. I Love You'; 'Twist And Shout'; 'Pop Go The Beatles'; 'A Taste Of Honey'.
Last programme of the series 'Pop Go The Beatles', according to the initial plans. Photographer Dezo Hoffmann takes pictures of the Beatles during the session and having lunch in the BBC staff restaurant.
After the recording session, Hoffmann photographs the Beatles 'bumping' Paul (celebrating his 21st birthday) in the middle of Delaware Road.

General Sir William Oliver declares: 'I know the Beatles deserve the Order of the British Empire'.
Jack Berg, Former Member of Canada's Parliament, Hector Dupuis, Stanley Ellis, Cyril Hearns, Douglas Moffit, Richard Pape, RAF Squadrom Leader Paul Pearson, David Evan Rees, and World War Veteran Col. George Wagg, return their MBE's in protest of The Beatles receiving theirs. The first recorded instances of anyone returning an MBE.
