'She Loves You', 4th week in the Top 100 (Billboard).
'Please Please Me', 3rd week in the Top 100 (Billboard).
'I Saw Her Standing There', 2nd week in the Top 100 (Billboard).

10.00-12.00am. BBC's 'Saturday Club' broadcast (recorded 7 January 1964).

1965

US single release: 'Eight Days A Week'/'I Don't Want To Spoil The Party'.

Studio 2. 2.30-5.45pm. Recording: 'Ticket To Ride' (takes 1-2). Studio 2. 7.00-10.30pm. Recording: 'Another Girl' (take 1, and 10 [unnumbered] edit pieces); 'I Need You' (takes 1-5). Producer: George Martin; Engineer: Norman Smith; 2nd Engineer: Ken Scott/Jerry Boys.
Start of 'Help!' sessions. A new recording technique is used: i) Rehearsals with tape running, spooling back it to record properly; ii) Making themes in one or two takes, with numerous overdubs on a rythm track.

Brian escorts Cilla Black to the Royal Film Performance.

John passes his drivers test.

1967
Vic Lewis, on behalf of NEMS Enterprises, flies to the US for talks with the Monkees' manager, Bert Schneider, with a view to NEMS Presentation bringing the group over to Britain for concerts.

1968

End of George's stay at the London College University Hospital.

1975

Capitol Records hurries to release the LP 'Rock And Roll' and sues Morris Levy to force him to withdraw the LP 'Roots', which has already sold 3,000 copies, from the market.

1977
US gold certification for 'The Best Of George Harrison'.

Ringo returns from Brighton to London.

1969
Clive Epstein receives a letter from John Eastman about Klein's intervention in NEMS.

1970
'Live Peace In Toronto', 6th week in the ranking (Billboard).

1972
US Vice-minister of Justice sends the Judicial Committee's memorandum about John and Yoko to Raymon Farell.

John and Yoko appear as guests for one week on the 'David Frost Show'.

1996
Worldwide radio broadcast of 'Real Love' begins.

London newspaper 'Sun' reports that two robbers arrested by the police knew of a $ 150,000 plan to assassinate Paul, which was dismissed by a Paul spokesman.

1997
Recording of orchestra overdub for 'Beautiful Night' at AbbeyRoad Studios, London.

Brighton. Ringo and Maureen's wedding trip.

Brian, Marianne Faithfull, Adrienne Posta and Ted Ray appear on 'Juke Box Jury'.

1966
Brian throws a party at 24 Chapel Street. Guests, among others: Cilla Black, Gerry and the Pacemakers and wives, John and Cynthia, Ringo and Maureen, Paul and Peter Asher.

1967
US single release: 'Strawberry Fields Forever'/'Penny Lane'.

Studio 2. 7.00pm-3.30am. Mono mixing: 'A Day In The Life' (remixes 2-5, from take 7). Recording: 'Not Known' (working title of 'Only A Northern Song'). (takes 1-9). Producer: George Martin; Engineer: Geoff Emerick; 2nd Engineer: Richard Lush.

Two 25-minute performances at the New York Carnegie Hall. Dezo Hoffmann and Brian attend.
British Prime Minister Sir Alec Douglas-Home and US President Lyndon B. Johnson meet at the White House. Johnson says: 'I like your advance guard. But don't you think they need haircuts?'

'She Loves You', 24th and last week in the Top 30 (UK New Musical Express chart).
'Please Please Me' LP, 47th week in the Top 10 (UK New Musical Express chart).
'With The Beatles' number 1, 12th week (UK New Musical Express chart).

1965
Brighton. Ringo and Maureen's wedding trip. Ringo receives reporters to officially announce his marriage.

'New Musical Express' announces that the Beatles will star on a film version of the novel 'A Talent For Loving'.

1966
Brian is at the New Arts Theatre, London, as producer of 'A Smashing Day'.

1967
Evening: Brian attends 'Disc and Music Echo' Valentine awards night, at the Hilton Hotel, London.

1969
'Yellow Submarine' LP, 4th week in the ranking (UK New Musical Express chart).

1970
BBC-TV's 'Top Of The Pops' first broadcasts John's performance of 'Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)' (filmed 11 February 1970).

1990
Paul's concert in Cincinnatti ('Get Back Tour').

Studio 2. 7.30-10.45pm. Recording: 'Hold Me Tight' (takes 1-13); 'Anna (Go To Him)' (takes 1-3); 'Boys' (take 1); 'Chains' (takes 1-4); 'Baby It's You' (takes 1-3); 'Twist And Shout' (takes 1-2). Producer: George Martin; Engineer: Norman Smith; 2nd Engineer: Richard Langham.

Snow storm. The Beatles leave to Washington by train. The Beatlesstay at the Shoreham Hotel.
8.30pm. Concert at the Washington Colliseum. Brian and Dezo Hoffmann attend. Performance filmed by CBS-TV. Press conference from the stage, before the show.
Party at the British Embassy.

1965
Ringo marries Maureen Cox. Brian is best man. John and George attend.
8.15am. Ringo and Maureen arrive at the Caxton Hall Register Office, London, with their parents.
Ringo and Maureen go to Brighton, on wedding trip.

1966
Tommy Quickly leaves NEMS Enterprises and signs for the George Cooper Organization.

UK single release: 'Woman', with Peter and Gordon.

1968
Studio 3. 4.00pm-2.00am. Recording: 'Hey Bulldog' (takes 1-10). Mono mixing: 'Hey Bulldog' (remixes 1, 2, from take 10). Producer: George Martin; Engineer: Geoff Emerick; 2nd Engineer: Phil McDonald.
On mixing, it is decided to keep the complete end of 'Hey Bulldog'. The group is filmed for 'Lady Madonna' clip.

1970
'The Magic Christian' premiere in New York.

Studio 8. BBC Television Centre, London. John, Yoko, Klaus Voorman, Alan White and Mal Evans appear on BBC-TV's 'Top Of The Pops' performing 'Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)'.

Brian writes to Dick Rowe, about Rowe's decision of not signing the Beatles to a recording contract with Decca.

1963
Concert at the Embassy, Peterborough (Helen Shapiro Tour).

Photographic session with photographer Cyrus Andrews at the Royal Court Hotel lobby and in and around Sloane Square, London. Locations: 1) Royal Court Hotel lobby; 2) telephone box; 3) Ford Popular; 4) letterbox; 5) Royal Court Theatre entrance; 6) King's Arms Public House.

1964
Press conference at the Plaza Hotel dancing room.

Elvis Presley sends a congratulatory telegram to the Beatles.
US 'Herald Tribune', about the Beatles: 75 % publicity, 20 % haircuts and 5 % cheerful mournings.
US 'Daily News', about the Beatles: Elvis performances are nothing compared with the Beatles stage image.

UK single release: 'I'm In Love', with the Fourmost.

1967
Studio 1. 8.00pm-1.00am. Recording: 'A Day In The Life' (tape reduction take 6 into take 7, overdub onto take 7, reduction of take 7 with overdub onto take 6, edit piece takes 8-11). Producer: George Martin; Engineer: Geoff Emerick; 2nd Engineer: Richard Lush.
Orchestra overdub. 1st use of two 4-track machines running in sync.. Initial idea for the end: a long 'hummmmmm'.
Visits at the studio: Pattie Harrison, Mick Jagger, Marianne Faithfull, Keith Richards, Mike Nesmith, Donovan, Simon and Marijke of the Fool.

1968
Concert by the Scaffold at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London. Recorded for LP 'The Scaffold'. Paul and Jane attend.

1988

George is guest on KLOS-FM's 'Rockline' out of Los Angeles.
