The Lord Chief Justice dismisses the charges against Keith Richards and gives Mick Jagger a conditional discharge, with respect to the trial on drugs charges of them and Robert Fraser.

Radio London office, 17 Curzon Street, Mayfair, London. Ringo records a farewell message from the Beatles.

Morning. Apple boutique gives away its inventory.

Trident Studios. 2.00pm-4.00am. Recording: 'Hey Jude' [re-make] (takes 1-4, overdub onto take 1). Producer: George Martin; Engineer: Barry Sheffield; 2nd Engineer: unknown. Recording of rythm track for 'Hey Jude'. First 8-track Beatles recording.

1969
Mal Evans takes the tape containing the 'Abbey Road' medley compiled on 30 July to Apple for acetate cutting purposes. He returns the tape this same day to EMI.
Malcom Davies, at Apple, cuts a lacquer of the complete medley sequence. On his own he decides to include the 'Her Majesty' piece, although it had been placed detached from the main sequence to make it clear it was not intended to be part of the medley.

Rough compilation to judge the progress of the medley. Paul decides to eliminate 'Her Majesty'. The piece of tape is cut carelessly, leaving on it the end of 'Mean Mr Mustard' and missing the last chord of 'Her Majesty', but since this was just a rough mix, things went on. John Kurlander, second engineer for this session, disobeying Paul, conserved the tape, appending it to the end of the complete tape, but clearly apart from the rest, 15 seconds after 'The End'.

Brian flies to New York to negotiate US tours for Cilla Black, Gerry and the Pacemakers and Billy J. Kramer with the Dakotas, all to commence at the end of February 1965.

Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers sign for NEMS Enterprises.

Brian represents pop music in the 1964 list of the 10 best dressed men in Britain. According to the selectors: 'his sartorial taste hits the mark as surely as his eye for talent. He is one of the moderates.'

'Please Please Me' LP number 1, 10th week (UK Record Retailer chart).

End of performances at the Winter Gardens, Margate, with Billy J. Kramer with the Dakotas.

A contest is run on this day's issue of teen magazine 'Boyfriend'. Prize: a lunch with the Beatles and attendance to a Beatles recording session.
'Boyfriend' first publishes photograph from its Euston Road session.

1964
US single release: 'A Hard Day's Night'/'I Should Have Known Better'.

1965
Savoy Hotel, London. Annual Ivor Novello awards lunch. Paul attends, to receive awards on behalf of the Beatles.

1967
End of European Song Cup in the Casino at the Belgium coastal resort of Knokke-le-Zoute. Brian attends. England beats France in the final. Roger Whittaker, with his version of 'If I Were A Rich Man', is declared the best individual act.

UK EP release: 'Twist And Shout'. UK EP release: 'My Bonnie'.

A new concert promotion company, NEMS Presentations Limited, is incorporated, with Brian one of the opening directors.

Performance at the Winter Gardens, Margate, with Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas.

1964

In London, the 'Observer' publishes a praiseful review of 'A Hard Day's Night' film, specially of Ringo's work.

While on his way to the concert in Brighton in his E-type Jaguar, George is involved in a car accident in New King's Road at Munster Road, London.
Performance at the Hippodrome, Brighton, with Jimmy Nicol and the Fourmost.

Broadcast of parts of 'A Hard Day's Night' on the Ed Sullivan show.

1966
The Beatles receive 3 1965 Ivor Novello prizes: 'Yesterday' (most broadcast song), 'We Can Work It Out' (most sold song) and 'Help!' (2nd most sold song).

George is photographed by 'Beatles Book' photographer Leslie Bryce, showing off his new E-type Jaguar in front of Whaddon House, William Mews, London.

To avoid fans, the Beatles cross the Thames on a boat to get to the ABC Studios in Teddington, from London. Teddington TV Studios, Middlesex. Live appearance on ABC-TV's 'Lucky Stars (Summer Spin)'.

1965
Dario Argento writes for the weekly Italian magazine 'Sogno': 'Questi sono in realita i Beatles, i favolosi Beatles, il piu imprevisto, incredible fenomeno musicale dei tempi moderni.' ('These really are the Beatles, the fabulous Beatles, the most unexpected, incredible musical phenomenon of modern times.')

1966
It is reported that the company that took the Beatles to Manila was adjudicated a bankrupt.

Brian buys Bernard Delfont and Tom Arnold's part of Saville Theatre shares, getting complete control over its leasing.
